Alvin Gregory Davis was born on April 21, 1955, in Thomasville, GA to Jewell Davis and Arthur Morris, Jr. He departed this life on August 25, 2023, at the age of 68.
Alvin attended the Thomasville City Schools as a child. He worked at Sunnyland in the early 90’s and Rose’s Department Store most recently. Alvin had a contagious smile and laugh that came from his great heart. He loved his family but also loved his freedom. It didn’t take much to entertain Alvin. He loved watching old boxing matches on YouTube, watching a good comedy special, and watching westerns like Andy Griffith and Bonanza. One of his favorite things to do was simply going joyriding. He loved a good car ride while listening and singing to his favorite artist, Keith Sweat.
In his later years, he loved sitting on the patio, feeling the wind, and watching the trees sway as he dreamed, imagined, and visualized the next chapter of his life.
In his last months of life, Alvin expressed that he was a fighter and that he wasn’t “going out easy!” He promised his daughter that he was going to fight every day and that he did. Alvin loved his family and strived to live life to the fullest despite many obstacles. If there is one thing that we all can learn from Alvin, it is to be resilient and to keep smiling.
Alvin is survived by his two children, Lanitra (Kenzie) Carey of Griffin, GA, and Alvin Reddick of West Palm Beach, FL; granddaughter, Daija Fletcher of Griffin, GA; devoted sister, Teresa Austin of Thomasville, GA, brothers, James (Mary) Thomas of Thomasville, GA and Anthony Thomas of Thomasville, GA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell Davis and Arthur Morris, Jr., maternal grandparents, Sarah and Lewis Redding, sisters, Eddie Mae Davis and Jacquelyn Sawyer, niece, Adrian McClendon, and nephew, Xavier Tillman.
