Yvonne Janette Hadley

January 9, 1947 — November 15, 2025

Yvonne Janette Hadley, 78, the beloved matriarch of the Hadley Family, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, November 15, 2025. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ to parents Leola and Willie Kirksey who preceded her in death. Yvonne’s greatest joy and achievement was her close-knit family and her flowers.

She joined Paradise M.B. Church at an early age, where she was baptized and dedicated her life to the Lord. As a mother of 6, grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 8 and great-great grandmother of 1, Yvonne was the heart and glue of the Hadley family. Her kitchen table and porch filled with flowers was the gathering place for Sunday dinners, holiday celebrations, and impromptu family meetings. Yvonne had a gift of making everyone feel like family and remembering everyone’s birthday and important celebrations. One of her favorite sayings was “love is what it does.” Yvonne attended Douglas High School and had numerous occupations, all serving others, but her last occupation was in housekeeping.

She was preceded in death by her loving son, Alonzo Grimsley “Boone,” daughter, Leona Grimsley, niece, Kimberly Walden, sister, Lillie Walden and brother, Wilbert Hill and Godmother, Lizzie Mays.

Those left to cherish her memories and carry out her legacy are her loving children: Oscar Hadley (Ylonda), Creshenda Hadley (Gilbert), Jennifer Hadley, Renarda Christian (Carlton), a Godson, Dre and a Goddaughter, Alexis; grandchildren: Alandria, Dominique, Kyandre, Kydashia, Deltrioz, Prince-ton, Jikiem, MisPrecious, Tamara, Anthony, Rayfield, Yvonne, Anquinea, Johnny and Noah; nephews: Willie, Craig, Alfred, Derek Rodrick and Bridges; special niece: Wanda Moody; special cousin: Anna Maxwell and a host of loving great-grandchildren, a great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

“Three things that will last forever-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
