Winfred Byron

December 12, 1956 — August 13, 2022

Winfred N. Byron (Wimp) was born to Rosa Lee Byron and Harry Taylor on December 12, 1956 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. Winfred was educated in the Thomas County Public School System. Winfred was a true Jack of All Trades and his skills propelled him to graduate from Job Corp, Morganfield, Kentucky; where he received his certification in Brick Masonry and General Contracting. He moved to Brooklyn, New York where he practiced barbering among other skills. He later returned to Thomasville, Georgia where he met Mary A. Grant. From this union, their only child, Telasia LaShaun Byron was born in January, 1982. He worked at Balfour Lumber Company and Grand Manor Mobile Homes for over 20 years combined. He became well known for his love of dogs which earned him the title of one of the best dog men in Thomas and surrounding counties. Wimp was a man that loved people without judgment. He enjoyed where he lived but held a special love for the children in Wood Valley. He baked cupcakes and gave them to the kids to enjoy for snacks. He was so loved by many that they affectionately called him "Uncle Wimp or Unk". For those that had the pleasure of getting to know him, throughout his life, they were left with a permanent imprint on their hearts. Winfred N. Byron was a great man that will truly be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
