Willie C Marcus

May 12, 1947 — April 7, 2020

Mr. Willie C Marcus was born to the late Clayton Marcus Sr. and Elise
D. Dixon on May 12, 1947, in Mitchell County, Georgia. He departed
this life peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Archbold Memorial
Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.


Mr. Willie C Marcus was a faithful dedicated member of St. Mary
Missionary Baptist Church. In his service, he was a Vice Chairman of
the Deacon Board, President of the usher board, member of the church
finance committee, and maintenance and grounds technician for the
church.


He attended Camilla Consolidated High School, of which he was a
graduate of the class of 1968. Upon his graduation, he married Velma
Gilbert to whom he was married for over 50 years. He enlisted into the
United States Army and immediately did a tour in Vietnam for over a
year as a paratrooper of an infantry division. He was honorably
discharged from the Army and completed his service in the Army
Reserve in July 1974. At the time of his death, he was employed with
the Mitchell County Board of Education for over 20 years.


Mr. Willie C Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton
Marcus, Sr. and Elise D. Dixon; a son, Roderick B. Marcus; three
brothers: Ulysee Dixon, Robert Davis, RL Davis; and one sister,
Earnestine Johnson.


Mr. Willie C Marcus leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife,
Velma Marcus; one daughter, Aretha Garcia of Covington GA; one son,
Elder Jason Marcus (Stephanie) of Sandy Springs, GA; a daughter-in-law,
Jerrell Marcus; six brothers, Charlie Will Dixon (Gwendolyn) of
Camilla, GA, Jeffrey Marcus (Deborah) of Fairburn, GA, Clayton
Marcus, Jr. of Mariana, FL, James Davis Sr. (Tracey) of Ladylake, FL,
Alan Marcus of Baconton, GA and Julian Marcus (Shirlette) of Albany,
GA; a special brother-in-law, Theasar Gilbert (Gail) of Thomasville, GA;
one sister-in-law, Betty Dorsett of Goulds, FL; a dear cousin/brother,
Freddie Thompson; his pastor, Rev. Ananias Hopkins, III, 11 grandchildren;
5 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and
friends.
