Mr. Willie Larry Davis, Sr. was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 24, 2025.
Larry, as he was known, was born in Boston, Georgia on July 29th, 1952 to his biological mother, the late Minnie Louise Franklin. He was raised by Cora Ivey and Richard Davis. After graduating from Douglass High School, he went on to graduate from Thomas Technical Institute from the Auto Body and Mechanics program.
Larry was united in holy matrimony to his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Melinda Jordan Davis (Linda). In 1970, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with the 377 SPS during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Larry worked at various jobs, working with Sunnyland for a number of years before becoming a machinist until his retirement.
After retirement, Larry became a member of Good Shepherd Church. He volunteered to work for the food program at Good Shepherd Church on Oak Street under the leadership of the late Morrisce B. Dockett, until she retired from the food program. He continued to run the food program for several years after Mrs. Dockett's retirement until unable to do so due to health problems.
Larry never met a stranger, having made a number of long life friends. Larry was devoted and committed to helping others from all walks of life, showing compassion, love and concern for others. He always was providing a helping hand or lending an ear to those who needed and wanted it. Most of all, Larry had a strong desire in loving his family.
Larry left behind his loving wife, Carolyn Jordan Davis (Linda), Thomasville, GA and five children: three sons, Willie Larry Davis, Jr., St. Petersburg, FL, Phillip D. Davis (Vanessa) Albany, GA and Kendrick L. Davis, Sr. (Chelsea), Daphne, AL; two daughters, Angela N. Davis Edwards (Howard), Thomasville, GA and Cynara M. Davis, Thomasville, GA, as well as 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and three brothers: Rickey Davis, Atlanta, GA, Rodrick Davis, Locust Grove, GA and Randy Davis (Gwendolyn), Chesterfield, VA and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his biological mother and brother, Ms. Cora Ivey, Mr. Richard Davis and Mr. Eugene "Cooter" Davis.
