Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill- may the life she lived speak for her. She was born March 11, 1947 to the late Samuel Lester Clark and Laura Sanford in Meigs,Georgia.
Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill confessed Christ at an early age at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Meigs, Georgia.
Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill was united in Holy Matrimony to Earnest Phillips, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with four children, where they raised them in Dalton Georgia. Deborah Lynn, Earnest, Jr, Derrick Mark and Melissa Deaundra Phillips.
In addition, after the death of Earnest Phillips, Verna regained Holy Matrimony to Deacon Ben Andrew Hill where in this union they raised together two grandchildren, Kami and Kalandria Phillips.
Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill, many knew her from her hometown as "Dadie" and to her grandchildren "Bigmama", loved to cook great soul food and bake magnificent sweets and was once an owner of her very own sandwich shop in Dalton, Georgia. She loved to read, write and garden, where she grew some of the most beautiful flowers that she adored. She loved spending time with her family and loved each and everyone of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was everything and she made sure each and everyone knew that.
Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill passed away peacefully on November 4,2022 at Harborview Nursing Home.
Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill leaves to cherish her memories and legacy, children, Deborah L. Robinson (Cal), Earnest Phillips Jr, Derrick M. Phillips (Melissa), Melissa Phillips; two granddaughters, Kami Phillips and Kalandria Phillips; six grandsons, Justin Phillips, Jamal Robinson, Michael Robinson, Nicholas Phillips, Cal Foster Robinson Jr, Samuel Phillips; one special Godchild, Joh'kyriean Shealey, four great granddaughters, Sirinity Reese, Gracelynn Phillips, Zori Phillips, Lauriel Cochran; two great grandsons, Jenoah Cromartie and Isaiah Reese; one brother, Edward Clark; one sister, Annie L. Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and loved ones.
Deaconess Verna Phillips Hill was preceded in death by both of her parents, Samuel Clark and Laura Clark, her husband, Deacon Ben Hill, her first husband, Earnest Phillips Sr, two brothers, Samuel Clark and Wayne Clark and one sister, Linda Larkins.
