Vangie Lee Thomas, lovingly known by her family as Vangeline. Vangie was born on May 6, 1941 to the late Ida Pearle Jackson Lawson, and the late Romie Knight. Vangie transitioned from this Earth on September 20, 2021.
Mrs. Thomas went to school in Boston, Georgia. She gave her life to God at an early age. Vangie attended Richland Missionary Baptist Church, then Glasgow African Methodist Episcopal Church. In later years she became a member of Clifford CME. She attended faithfully until her health declined.
Vangie was a lady of many talents. Her beautiful smile and unique personality brought her in front of many important people. She traveled from the east coast of the United States, to the beaches in Florida, and finally back home. This extraordinary lady was a giver, and she made enormous sacrifices throughout her lifetime. Vangie retired from the Cross Creek School Cafeteria, in Thomas County Georgia.
She was a caregiver for mother, brothers, and she helped raise her siblings, nieces, nephews, and others. Vangie was an advocate for children. This remarkable lady loved deeply. She loved God, her family, friends, and she loved Dr. Pickens and staff. She believed in order, therefore her entire house was neat, clean, and everything in its place. She had an exceptional memory, and critical thinking skills. Cooking, cleaning, quilt making and fishing were a few of the things she was passionate about.
She leaves to cherish her memories a sister, Beulah Pyke, Winter Haven, Fl, a brother Tommy Wyche, Boston, GA, Adopted Siblings/ Cousins Mr. Kenneth E. & Dr. Mearlene J. Duncan of Thomasville, Ga. All of her special cousins, including Josephine McCall, special friend Mr. Walter Covington, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends that cared about her welfare.
