Valerie Renée Brower was born on February 14, 1961 in Chicago, IL to the late James Franklin Brower, Jr and the late Cora Lee Woodruff Brower. After the death of her father, Valerie and her siblings were blessed to be raised by their maternal grandparents, the late Reverend Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt Woodruff and Melvina Brown Woodruff of Thomasville, GA. Valerie is the 3rd eldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her eldest brother, Herman Stanley Brower. Siblings include, James Franklin Brower, III (Christine) of Broxton, GA; Carl Christopher Brower (Nadine) of Thomasville, GA; and her sister, Andre' B Green of Columbia, SC.
Valerie graduated from Thomasville High School in the year of 1980. She worked in various positions such as the Office Administrator of Thomasville Sheriff's Department and Office Administrator at Southwestern State Hospital. However, it was her role as a school parapro that filled her heart with the most joy as she engaged with children to include special needs students. Valerie believed in education and furthered her education by receiving from Grand Canyon University degrees as follows: Bachelor of Science Business Administration and graduating Cum Laude in September 2013; Master of Business Administration in August 2015; Master of Science Leadership March 2017. In December 2019 she was awarded the Keller Graduate School of Management Certificate of Accounting. At the time of her death, she was enrolled in an Employment Law field of study.
While Valerie did not give birth to any children, she loved and mothered many to include her nieces and nephews, Kendrick Brown and Michael Blake (James Franklin Brower, III), Carl Christopher Brower, II, Jasmine Renee Brower, Brittney Nicole Brower, Semja Brown and preceded in death by Courtney LaSha Brower and Corey James Brower, (Carl Christopher Brower); Justin Wayne Green and Jeremiah David Green, (Andre' Green).
Valerie was a lifelong member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Justin Johnson, where she served on the Jr. and Gospel Choir, the Usher Board, the Jr Mission, secretary for Sunday School to name a few areas.
Valerie will be missed by many for her infectious laugh, love of enjoying friendly fellowship, and her loving, yet firm slap on the arm when the laughter and joy was too much to contain. She will be missed by a host of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, aunts/ uncles, cousins, friends and family.
