Ulysses Keyes, a beloved father, grandfather, and community member, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. He was 87 years old.
Ulysses Keys, affectionately known as "Scauley," was born on August 12, 1938, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Roy and Maddie Rowe Keys. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1958, where he excelled on the football team, science club, track, school patrol, and baseball.
Ulysses passed away on September 10, 2025, at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Payne Keys, his daughter Venesha (Timothy) Lee, and his son Ulysses Smith Jr.(Gail) and special nephew Harold (Betty) Green. Despite these profound losses, his legacy of love and faith continues through his family and friends.
He was a devoted member of Break Every Chain Ministries in Thomasville, where he served as an honorary deacon. He was known for his strong faith, his kindness, and his unwavering support for those around him.
Ulysses worked at Sunnyland Foods in Thomasville, Georgia, until his retirement.
He leaves behind his grandchildren Daniel Ford (Dallas,Texas), Ulysses Smith Jr.,Acey Smith, Brandon Smith Sr. All of Atlanta, Ga. Great grandkids Arkeisha Ford (Thomasville, GA), Bre'Onna Smith, Brandon Smith Jr., Blessan Smith, all of (Atlanta, Ga ) Daniel Ford Jr, Dezarae Ford, Devin Ford and Anijah Duncan all of ( Dallas,Texas) his special niece Teresa (Jerome) Clark of Thomasville GA his sister Bernice (Bishop David) Townes of Lakeland, Florida, brother in-law Richard McQueen Jr. (Thomasville, GA)and a host of compassionate nieces and nephews and cousins.
Ulysses' warmth and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
