Tommas Maurice Speed

September 3, 2002 — August 18, 2022

"And God Shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4

Tommas Maurice Speed was born in Valdosta, GA on September 3, 2002. He and his twin sister, Tommeria Arliece Speed, were delivered to the proud parents of Sonia F. Christian and Tommy D. Speed and into a loving family who showered them with an abundance of love, affection, and support. Tommas remained in that special circle of love until he transitioned to be with the Lord. He quietly slipped away to eternal rest on August 18, 2022 after unknowingly saying his final "goodbye" and "I love You" to his family that morning as he left for work.
Throughout his life, he was immersed in the Christian faith where he honored our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With the guidance of his mother and grandparents, Tommas was a dedicated youth participant at Richland MB Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry L. Mathis Jr.
Tommas attended WG Nunn Elementary School in Valdosta, Georgia before transferring to the Thomasville City School System thus allowing him to become a proud and mighty "Bulldog".
Tommas grew tall and strong, yet he remained kind and gentle in spirit. He always wore the "biggest" smile that would turn into laughter and a grin that could not be hidden. He was always humble while displaying politeness, good manners along with a great sense of humor.
Affectionately known as Speed, Tommas was a dedicated "Bulldog" and proudly wore the #68 jersey during his playing tenure with the Thomasville High Bulldogs. His explosive smile and quick wit motivated and encouraged teammates to push through the tough battles and the many accomplished titles; making the Bulldog fans love him more.
Tommas graduated from Thomasville High School in 2021 and decided to explore career options to see what would best fit him. He had a deep love for welding which later became his motivation to continue his educational training at Southern Regional Technical College.
While his work history was short, Tommas exhibited many fine qualities as a great employee. He was employed with Evoqua Water Technologies and previously with Christian Construction Company.
Although his earthly journey has ended, his compassion and empathetic love will continue forever. He leaves behind a lasting impression of love, integrity, generosity and a strong foundation of honor and commitment for his family, friends, fellow classmates, the Bulldog family and the community to follow.
Tommas leaves to cherish his loving memory, his strong, loving and devoted mother, Sonia Christian; father, Tommy (Jakiva) Speed. The best sister ever, Tommeria Speed and god brothers, Kingston Davis, Jamari Mitchell and Deldrick Hill. Dedicated maternal grandparents, that often referred to him as "Strongman", Leonard Sr and Arunita Christian. Paternal grandmother, Sherliece Deacon. Proud and supportive uncle & aunt, Leonard Jr and Cassandra Christian and their sons, Jaylan and Cameron. Along with paternal siblings, a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Tommas was preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Maggie V. Brooks (referred to Tommas as Ray) and Annie Bell Christian. His grandfather, Tommy L. Speed
