Sidney Roscoe Hill was born on November 11, 1951, in Coolidge, GA, to the late RB and Rosa Lee Hill.
At an early age, Sidney accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Coolidge, GA, under the leadership of Rev. Simmons. Later in life, Sidney joined Springhill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Boyd, where he faithfully served in the finance department. Sidney also served at First Unity Missionary Baptist Church, further demonstrating his commitment to the Lord and his community.
Sidney was a 1969 graduate of Magnolia High School. He then went on to pursue his education in automotive mechanics at Thomas Area Vocational Technical School. Sidney worked as a truck driver for various industries in Thomasville, GA, but it was his true passion for cooking that led him to open his own business. Sidney became the owner of Rose City Pick Up in Thomasville, GA, where he served
the community for many years with delicious home-cooked meals and catering services. His restaurant became a local favorite, with many customers visiting daily for his signature dishes. Sidney continued to run his restaurant until his health began to decline, leading to his eventual retirement.
Sidney found great peace and relaxation in fishing, a pastime he deeply loved. More than just a hobby, fishing was a part of his soul. He particularly enjoyed spending time fishing with his good friend, Horace Williams, and cherished those moments in nature.
Sidney was preceded in death by his beloved siblings: Lula M. Owens, Gainesville, FL, Addie Pearl Hill, Gainesville, FL, Dollie L. Bostic, Gainesville, FL, and Gladys L. Hill, Coolidge, GA.
