Sharon Stacey

Sharon Stacey, affectionately known as "Nellie," was born on February 16, 1953, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the union of Johnny Eddie and Frankie Mae Smith. At an early age, Sharon professed her faith in God and was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia. She was under the spiritual covering of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. On October 11, 2024, God called her home, bringing her earthly journey to a close and welcoming her into eternal rest.

Sharon attended Douglas High School and later pursued a degree in culinary arts. After a fulfilling career, she retired from the Fulton County School System.

The family was at the heart of Sharon's world. She found immense joy in family gatherings, where her love was most evident in the delicious cakes she baked, especially her renowned pound and key lime cakes.

Sharon's diva-like flair and sense of style were unmistakable, as she approached life with elegance and grace. Her love for shopping, especially for the perfect pair of heels, reflected her refined taste and zest for life. Her strong will and deep faith guided her through life's challenges, and she was always the pillar of strength for her family. Sharon's legacy of faith, family, love, and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Her parents preceded her death: Johnny Eddie and Frankie Mae Smith; three sisters Jolene Jones-Andrews, Eddie Mae Broadnax, and Annie Lois Wilson; brother Johnny Smith Jr.; niece, Patina Wilson; and nephew Roscoe Thomas III.

Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her devoted husband, John Stacey; three daughters: Cheryl Bostick, Thomasville, GA, Lisa Sneed (James), Snellville, GA and Shmonia Burrows, Tallahassee, FL; two sons: Charles Bostick Jr. (Keisa), Grand Prairie, TX., Shmon Bostick, McDonough, GA; eight grandchildren: Reannan Tyner (Carlson), Shmar Smallwood, Nehemiah Burrows, Zion Burrows, Jeremiah Bostick, Joshua Bostick, Aaron "Oliver" Bostick, Shamaya Ford and Isaiah Bostick; uncle, Johnny George Smith, Lincolnton, GA; siblings: Robert Smith (Louise), Thomasville, GA., Rosetta Fulton, Jacksonville, FL, Edward Smith (Cynthia), Thomasville, GA, Margaret Smith, Atlanta, GA, Carol Samuel (Robert), Atlanta, GA, Franklin Smith, Atlanta, GA, Tommy Smith, Valdosta, GA, Tangela Smith, Atlanta, GA and Valerie Smith, Enterprise, AL. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
