Rufus Shaw was born on July 19,1948 to the late James and Nettie Mae Shaw in Pavo, GA. He is survived by five sisters (Lucille Sheppard, Frankie Newsome, Annie Mae Porter, Eloise (Willie) Pettis, and Nettie (Earnest) Sharp) and two brothers (James (Retha) Shaw, Jr. and Henry (Eva) Shaw). In addition to his parents, Rufus was preceded in death by his sisters Irine Straughter, Lillie Mae Taylor, Mildred Jones, Pearline Linder and his brother Wade Shaw.
Rufus attended Washington High School in Brooks County and Atlanta Area Tech. He served in the United States Army where he received honors in marksmanship and was honorably discharged. From there, Rufus pursued a career in printing and retired from Printing Plus as a Pressman.
Rufus was married to Brenda (Hambrick) Shaw on December 19, 1975. This union resulted in a son, Ryan Shaw. The memory of Rufus Shaw will be cherished forever by us as a loving husband, father and friend.
He will also be remembered by praying friends, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews as well as his Washington High School classmates.
