Rosland Carter

July 25, 1953 — February 11, 2024

Our Beloved Rosland Carter unexpectedly passed away in her home on February 11, 2024, at 70 years. She will be truly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.

Rosland was 1 of 6 children born in Thomasville GA, to the late Charlie Gaston and the late Illinois Murdock on July 25, 1953. She received her education in Thomas County, GA. She was a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

From a young age she grew up with a caring heart and a giving spirit. This eventually led to her helping many throughout her journey. She loved family and friends and was always the person many knew they could depend on. From youth, she exhibited an unwavering commitment to persevere through difficulties, she was hardworking, and she fully accepted responsibility. She was full of life and the epitome of a youthful mindset.

She lived life on her terms with many twists and turns and didn't let the opinions of others determine her life decisions. She was the kind of person that followed her own convictions, and it would be an injustice to attempt to summarize everything she embodied and experienced.

She was a shining light of humor, drama, and laughter. She was the life of the party and didn't mind keeping the dance floor warm and keeping the cheers going.

During her conversations with family and friends, she was always reluctant to say goodbye because she said it felt so final and made her sad. She ended her conversations with "talk to you later" and didn't hesitate to correct you if you forgot.

She was the neighborhood MOM. If you were a friend of Shawn and Morris, then you were a friend of hers. She loved fellowship, family time and having fun.

While Rosland's passing is a great loss, her legacy will continue to inspire all of those she touched. She is survived by her sons, Morris Carter and Shawn (Denise) Carter, nephew, Ronnie (Jaime) Larkins and nieces, Sharon (Roycie) George and Tonia Williams, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Rosland was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard Larkins, Jerry Larkins and James Larkins; sisters, Ella Mae Larkins, Cynthia Larkins, Sadie Ivey and Cherry Ivey.
