Rosamond Cromartie affectionately known as “Cro” was born on October 31, 1947 in Thomasville, GA to the late Ralph Cromartie and Angeline Holton Cromartie. He received his education and earned his high school diploma from the Grady County School System, graduating class of 1965. He excelled academically as well as in the sport of baseball. Rosamond then went on to enlist in the United States Army in 1967. He was later honorably discharged in1970 after completing three years of service. After his military duties, Rosamond went on to complete vocational training for welding and automotive mechanics at Walton Technical College. He primarily was employed in the lumber and carpentry industry throughout much of his life. Rosamond was a clever and skilled chess player and enjoyed other hobbies such as playing checkers, watching sports, and fishing. At an early age he joined Mercy Seat Christian Church and served as an active, faithful, and dedicated deacon until death.
In the spring of 1979, he met the love of his life Patricia White Cromartie. They united in holy matrimony on March 31, 1984. To their union two children were born: Rosamond Cromartie Jr. (Rod) and Jeniece Cromartie. Rosamond was a loving husband, a devoted father to his children, and a true friend to many.
Rosamond departed this life on July 26, 2026 at Archbold Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Ralph and Angeline Cromartie; brothers, Charlie and Prince Cromartie; nieces, Sabrina Cromartie and Pamela Cromartie; and nephew, Ray Jefferson Cromartie.
Rosamond leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Patricia Cromartie; children, Rosamond Cromartie Jr. (Rod) and Jeniece Cromartie; brother, Harry Cromartie (Terry), aunt, Clara Young and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Much gratitude is given to his two patient, compassionate, and skilled care givers, Tasha Smith and Merline Alexida Mondesir, who were able to bring comfort and joy to Rosamond during his final years.
