Robert A. Murray, Jr. was born in Thomas County on May 8, 1960, to the late Rosa and Robert A. Murray Sr. He was well known to his family and friends as Redd. He attended Thomasville High School. He graduated in 1978. He was employed by the City of Thomasville for 28 years, until his retirement. He unexpectedly departed from his earthly home to eternal rest on March 15, 2026.
He was a man whose love was best expressed through a warm meal and a welcoming smile. Known for his incredible cooking, he brought people together, making everyone feel like family. His laughter was contagious, and his spirit was kind and generous. A hard worker with a bright smile, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He will be truly missed by his wife of 42 years, Almeta Murray, and his four children, Carlos Black, Sr, Shameca Calloway (DeAndre), Shuntel Demps (LeRoy), Robert A Murray III; grandchildren, Derrick, Carlos Jr, Amari, Yorel, Ryan, Caitlyn, Karli, Austyn, Kinsley; great-grandchildren, Promise and Shuntel; sisters, Gloria Blanton, Tina Lampley, Rosemary Murray; brothers, Larry Murray Sr., (Diane), Raymond Murray, Ray Murray; special aunts, Fannie Moss (Jerry) and Mary Ella Hadley and host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
Robert was preceded in death by Lillie Prophet, Martha Williams, Jessie Prophet, Essie Prophet, Willie Mae Prophet, Maggie Guyton, Ruby Donaldson and Eric Jones.
