Rhetta Lee Delaney Trutlin was born to the late Frank and Evelena Gilmore Delaney on August 11, 1936 on Pebble Hill Plantation.
She accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a graduate of Liberty High School, Beachton, Georgia, where she was an exceptional basketball player. She had a love for fishing, crocheting, watching sports, and making others laugh, and teaching her grandchildren, family, and friends about the Word of the Lord.
Rhetta was united in marriage to the late Hayward Trutlin and to this union a son was born in 1959, the late Dorman Lanard Trutlin.
She retired from Southwestern State Hospital after 20 plus years of service.
Rhetta leaves to cherish and celebrate her life, her daughter-in-love Etta Williams Trutlin, two grandchildren Vert Washington (Frances) and Vertrice Washington, all of Thomasville, GA; five great grandchildren Shakaya Jackson, Aaliyah (Tre'veon) Smith, Drashaun Fann Sr., and Sainbreek Washington of Thomasville, GA, and Lavert Washington (Crystal) of Atlanta, GA; twelve great great-grands; her siblings Clara D. Jones and Frank Delaney Jr., of Thomasville, GA; sisters-in-law April Diggs, of Somerset, NJ, Viola Trutlin-Monroe of Battle Creek, MI, Delores Trutlin of Madison, WI, and Frances Trutlin of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Fannie Kate Delaney, Margie Louise Grant, Mary Frances Mitchell, James Diggs, Roosevelt Diggs, and Harold Diggs.
