Ollie Mae Fogle was born on August 24, 1946 in Quitman, Georgia
to the late Ivey Jones, Sr and Lola Mae Horne Jones where she was
the sixth of fifteen children. She went to be with her Lord and
Savior on Tuesday morning, July 21, 2020 while resting in the
comfort of her home.
"Ms. Ollie" as she was so affectionately called, lived most of her life
in Thomasville, except for a brief period in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She loved the Lord dearly and those who came within a shouting
distance of her knew that she loved Him with all her heart and all
her mind and all her soul. She was indeed a Christian soldier and
she carried the mantle of being one with great pride and honor.
Ms. Ollie married Mathis Lee Curry, Jr (deceased) on November 21,
1965 and to that union were born three children; Jonathan David
Curry, Sr, or as she called him, her "Big Man" (Delorise), Loretha
Curry Threadcraft, and Mathis Lee Curry III (Michelle). She had
three favorite things she loved to talk about: her God, her children,
and her fishing and not necessarily in that order.
Later in life, she married David Fogle on January 18, 1997 who
stayed by her side to her last days. Even though he didn't particularly
care to fish, he knew how much it meant to her. To this end, he would
drive her to Jacksonville or wherever she wanted to go so she could
do what she loved doing. He would sit and do his Christian crossword
puzzles while she would sit on the bank and reel in those big mullets
and big-mouth bass in between spending quiet time with the Lord.
Ms. Ollie leaves to mourn her dear husband, her children, her stepson,
Alvin Fogle (Ruth), two sisters Everleanor Bristow and Mary Peterson
(Nathaniel), and one brother, David Jones. She also leaves her special
niece, Mamie Young and nephew, James Young, whom she helped raise
as her own; her young fishing buddy, her grandson, DeMario Hudson,
and her friend of almost fifty years, Josephine Battle, Carrie and Scott
Morgan, whom she worked for many years helping to raise their children,
Sidney and Madison, and even after her retirement, still maintained
a great relationship with. In addition, she leaves to mourn eight other grandchildren Tameka Evans of Thomasville, Shameka Curtis of
Phenix City, AL, Jonathan Curry, Jr of Johns Creek, GA, Vanesia
Brown and Destiny Threadcraft of Thomasville, Cameron Curry,
Caleb Curry, and Camden Curry of Powder Springs, GA; eight great
grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her dearly
beloved church family of Emmanuel Temple C.O.G.I.C.
