Mr. Nathaniel Mitchell was born July 5, 1948. He departed this life December 2, 2025, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Mr. Lacy Mitchell, Sr. and Mattie Lee Perkins Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his loving brothers, Lacy Mitchell, Jr., and Cornelius Mitchell; niece, Jessie Sullivan, and nephew, Melvin Mitchell, Jr.
Mr. Nathaniel Mitchell received his formal education at Thomasville City Schools. He discovered his passion for art at an early age. He was a painter, gifted artist, and master craftsman whose creativity touched every part of his world. His artwork was not just something he produced, it was an extension of his spirit. He always expressed his limitless love, and it was that part of him that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and bring a smile to their faces. He never missed an opportunity to say, “I Thank the Good Lord For that” and “Thank You Heavenly Father.”
He will be remembered for the fun and laughter he brought to his family and others. He filled every room with laughter. He was known to affectionately call all of his loved ones “Booga-Bear.” His sense of humor and boundless love will never be forgotten. There was never a dull moment being around him. His lighthearted nature and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Nathaniel Mitchell leaves to cherish his memories; six sisters and one brother, Hazel Mitchell of Thomasville, Georgia., Essie Mitchell of Columbus, Georgia, Catherine Mitchell of Columbus, Georgia, Wanda E. Wheeler (Michael) of Norfolk, Virginia, Rosa Mitchell (Gerald Ellis) or Thomasville, Georgia, Shirley Thomas (Keith) of Thomasville, Georgia, and Melvin Mitchell of Thomasville, Georgia, and a host of special nieces and nephews, whom he loved as his own.
He also leaves to cherish three aunts and two uncles, Floyd Perkins of Thomasville, Georgia, Vera Williams of Thomasville, Georgia, Deborah Thomas of Cairo, Georgia, Ruth Wilson of Albany, Georgia, and Milton Perkins of West Palm Beach, Florida, along with a host of cousins and a very special friend, Jessie Simmons.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his spirit remain with us always.
