Mother Rosetta Woodruff Hopkins

September 18, 1931 — January 19, 2023

Early before sunrise, January 19, 2023, while the dew was still on the ground, our Lord and Savior knew one of His very own was tired, so he dispatched an angel from Glory to bring our beloved Mother Rosetta Woodruff Hopkins into His presence.
Mother Rosetta Woodruff Hopkins was the eldest daughter born to the late Reverend Roosevelt Woodruff and late Mother Melvinia Brown Woodruff on September 18, 1931. She loved her family and was the protector of her three sisters and one brother.
Mother Hopkins was reared in Thomas County and graduated from Douglas High School in 1950. She was a lifelong member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served in many auxiliaries until her health began to fail, and then she continued to worship virtually.
March 25, 1951, she married her soulmate, Deacon Ananias Hopkins, Jr. To this union, seven children were born.
Mother Hopkins retired from the Thomas County Health Department in 2001, where she made a tremendous impact on hundreds of young mothers. Her smiles and kindness there are proof that God's way is best. She was well-known in the community as a caregiver to many and helped anyone who needed it. Mother enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping, and taking care of others. Her demeanor always fluctuated between strong disciplinarian and fun grandma.
She leaves a rich legacy of love and Godliness that her family will forever cherish.
Her loving family includes her devoted husband, Deacon Ananias Hopkins, Jr., Daughters, Cynthia Stringer, Evangelist Audrey Davis, and Jennifer Hightower (Reverend Michael, Sr.); Sons, Reverend Aaron (Diane) Hopkins, Reverend Ananias (Jacquelyn) Hopkins, III, and Reverend Anthony Hopkins. Sisters-in-law, Arleatha Dunbar, and Bernita Hopkins. Grandchildren, Kelvin, Adrian, David, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Brittany, Ananias IV, Christopher, Heather, Michael, Jr., Christie, Kimberly, James, Jr., Apryl, Ashley, Darius, LaChel, Tashara and 28 great-grands. Her other children, Derrick (Carla) Ingram, Gwenita Wright, Gwenetta Wright, Amber Brown, Harriet Ingram, and Stephanie Sales, also rise to call her blessed. She was cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Theodore Hopkins; Granddaughter, Devaga Holmes; Grandson, Steddrick Hopkins; Siblings, Reverend Charles (Ruth) Woodruff, Mother Lula (James) Augusta, Christine (Nathaniel) McCaskill, and Cora (James) Brower; Sons-in-law, Deacon Robert Stringer and Reverend James Davis, Sr.
