Mother Dora Mae Herbert Augusta

1934 - 2025

Mother Dora Mae Herbert Augusta was born July 26, 1934, to the late Ammon and Arilee Jackson Herbert. She was born in Thomas County in the Coon Creek Community. She was the youngest of two girls.

She joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She wore many hats and was a dedicated worker for the Lord. She worked on the Usher Board as the President, sponsored Usher's Anniversary, served in the kitchen ministry, and was an excellent cook and baker. She served wherever needed, such as the Deaconess Board, Community Prayer Band, etc. She was truly a servant of the Lord, never got tired, and worked until her health failed. She was crowned "Mother" by Emeritus Pastor Andrew Anderson.

She was married to the late Peter Augusta, Sr, on September 23, 1950, and in this union, one son was born, Peter Augusta, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Peter Augusta, Jr., Thomasville, GA; five grandchildren, Lashonda Augusta, Lips Comb, Takeshia Augusta, Peter Augusta, III, Bryant, Derrick; six great grandchildren; one great grandson; special daughter, Clara Dunbar; a special niece, Hattie Pearl Lankford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all of St Paul Missionary Baptist Church members.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ammon and Arilee Herbert; sister, Corine Herbert Jordan; brother, James Herbert; three brothers in law, Frank Jordan, James Augusta, Mitchell Augusta; sisters in law, Thelma Herbert, Minnie Roan, Annie Ruth Brown, Queen Walker and Lou Mae Augusta.
