Mary Parker

March 13, 1952 — October 2, 2020

Ms. Mary Parker was born on March 13, 1952 in Metcalf, Georgia to the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Irene Keyes. She was the oldest of three daughters. She lived by the high moral Christlike standards instilled into each of them by their parents. Her mother taught them to "Never say I can't, instead, say I'll try." She lived her life by that motto. Ms. Parker received her elementary education at New Union Elementary School, and Magnolia Elementary School, both of Thomasville, Georgia, and she received her high school education at Douglas High School of Thomasville, Georgia, where she maintained an "A" average throughout her four years of High School and as a result of her hard work she received a "Full Paid Four Year Scholarship" to attend Fort Valley State College, majoring in Elementary Education. She graduated with honors and fulfilled a lifelong dream of hers to go to and become the first person in her entire family to graduate from college. She later changed her major to nursing. After completion of her training, on February 22, 1973, she received her certification and became a LICENSE PRACTICAL NURSE, (LPN).

Nurse Parker later got married and became the proud parent of one daughter, Yolonda Parker. On December 23, 1976 Nurse Parker's younger sister died and left behind three small children ages 3 months, five and seven years old. Her sister's dying wish and last words spoken was for Nurse Parker to keep her children and raise them as her own.

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Yolonda Parker, as well as Sabrana Bowdry (Christopher), Willie Joe Hunter (Sheryl), and the baby girl, Lawanda Davis (Ricky). She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Zeacoria Hunter, Wilkeara Hunter, Stanton Knight, Megan Bass, Quendarious Jones, Tequlia Hunter, Lenny Jones, Jr., Jaquan Jones, and Dmarion Hunter. Her great-grandchildren include Jayden Hudson, Camari Jones, Kydomia Adams, Layla Jones, Z'marion Hunter, and Malani Jones. Also mourning her death are Robert Johnson (Cousin/Brother), Nancy Vickers (Lifelong Friend/Sister), Betty Virgil (Cousin/ Sister), as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
