Mary R. McClain Watts Greene was born on September 26, 1931 to the late Willie McClain, Sr. and Carlee Taylor McClain.
She was married to the late Samuel Greene.
She joined Silver Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Coolidge, GA at an early age. She was a Mother of the church, deaconess, and one of the founders of Sisters in Christ at Silver Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was involved in many church activities until her health began to decline.
After graduating from Coolidge School, she attended Fort Valley State University. She worked at Southwestern State Hospital for 30 years until retirement.
Mother Greene had a passion for cooking and feeding everyone. She was at her happiest helping others without any reason and without receiving anything in return.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Subrenia Watts of Albany, GA, Robert (Madeline) Watts, Jr. of Jonesboro, GA, Michael (Martha) Watts of Thomasville, GA, Terri Watts of Coolidge, GA, Sara Woods of Winter Haven, FL, David (Mary) Greene of Cairo, GA, Richard (Ann) Greene of Port Lucia, FL, Andrea (Gwendolyn) Greene of Sanford, FL, Coletha Law of Port St Lucia, FL; sister, Martha L. Ervin of Jacksonville, FL; special granddaughter, Nell Michelle Greene of Thomasville, GA and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Opal Calhoun, brothers, Thaddeaus McClain, George Washington McClain, Joseph McClain, Thomas McClain, Reynolds McClain, Benjamin McClain and Daniel McClain.
