Mary Alice Cobb - Rollins

Mary Alice Cobb was born on November 22, 1932 to George Alexander and Arcenia Maxwell Cobb. Shewas the third oldest child and had two (2) brothers George Jr and Raleigh, and five ( 5) sisters Henrietta,Dorothea, Rosa Lee, Lucy, and Lille. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Henrietta,Doreatha, and Rosa Lee and her brother George Jr. She was affectionally called Sista by her parents,siblings, children and grandchildren and "Mary Cobb" by others who knew her.

She often told us about her childhood; attending school at Father Perry's, living at the Applewhite's andat Vashti school, taking care of her brothers and sisters, and her Dad working on a dairy farm. She wasan excellent seamstress and made stunning prom gowns and for her sisters.
She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful to the Second PresbyterianChurch. She was an avid supporter of the nursery located at the Church and always wanted to ensurethat the playground equipment was up to date and in working order.

Mary Alice was no stranger to hard work – she would tell us about the first job she had at nine(9) yearsold. She was employed by McLeod's Art Gallery for several years and started her own photography andcustom picture framing business. Over the years she took many pictures in Thomasville, Tallahassee,Cairo and surrounding areas, weddings, proms, graduations, and family portraits. Her framed artworkhung in Commercial Bank for many years. She demonstrated the capital E in Entrepreneur, she was alicensed notary, sold jewelry, established a catering equipment rental service and sold T-Shirts. Afterher retirement, she enjoyed campaigning. In addition to putting the signs in her yard and waving hercampaign signs to passer byers on Jackson Street, she also campaigned for her favorite candidates inTampa, FL.

In August of 1952 she married Clifton King Rollins, there were two (2) children born to this union, Clifton Gail (Genny) and James Alexander (Mickey). She leaves to mourn her passing her two children, Genny(David) Mitchell, James Rollins; 4 grandchildren, Kimberlee Kerbo (Shawn), David Mitchel III, AnthonyWhite and Zandra Banks ( Roderick), 14 great-grandchildren, Jeffery Oates, Timya Mitchell, JendayaMitchell, David King Mitchell, Juy'dee Butler, Dwann McLeod, Zeterrica McLeod, Chakarii Amey, Kelton Butler, Jaymais Arrington; her nephews, Christopher King, Marc Gibson Terry Franklin, her nieces,Kathleena Franklin and Jackie King, her great nieces; two sisters and one brother.
