Marie Chester Bennett was the second born child to the late Lillie Mae and Nathaniel Chester Sr. She blessed the world with her presence on January 16th, 1933, although her mother says it was the 17th . "Honey" as she was so affectionately called, grew up in Thomas County along with her five other siblings.
After High School, she and her sister, Rosa, moved to Buffalo, New York to conquer the world. It was there that she met and married Lutha Bennett Sr. After 3 years, she moved back to Thomasville where she worked as a homemaker, domestic worker and cared for many children including her own, Lutha, Pam and Kim. She retired at the age of 69. She was an active member of Saint Thomas AME Church where in her early years, she sang in the choir and served on the usher board.
Honey's favorite thing to do was to prank her family and always had something funny to say. It's safe to say you would get a good laugh when hanging out with this cool lady. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, scratching off lottery tickets and sitting on the front porch.
