A TIME TO BE BORN – It was a day ordained by God to illuminate the world with one more speck of light in Port St. Joe, Florida, on October 2, 1944, to the late Jack, Sr. and Lillie Sanders Brown.
A TIME TO GROW - She was reared by her parents who insisted she learn more and have more educational opportunities than they had. She attended Magnolia High School, Walton Technical School (a/k/a Southern Regional Technical College), and Bainbridge Junior College. She was a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
A TIME TO LOVE - In 1967, she married Calvin Luther Turner, Sr. To this union three children were born. She nurtured and cared for each of them throughout her life. She supported every endeavor they undertook. She never looked at an obstacle as defeat but persevered despite the heartache and headache. Her generosity spread miles beyond the household.
A TIME TO WORK - She began her labor early working as a licensed practical nurse. She worked in the operating room, inpatient/outpatient surgery center, and floor nurse for over 45 years working at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA and Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA. She not only helped others to heal but healed our family with more than just her hands, it was her heart. She loved hard, she spoke peace, she held us together with more than just a band-aid. She brought us strength and unity, teaching us that love was the greatest medicine of all.
A TIME TO SERVE – She joined Hadley C. M. E. Church at an early age, where she served faithfully. She later moved her membership to St. Thomas A. M. E. Church, to be with her husband. There she served dutifully as a Sunday School teacher for the teenagers, Stewardess Board, Pastor's Aide Board, Steward, L. W. Hudson Gospel Choir, Senior Choir, Youth Choir Director, and Susie Flipper Women's Missionary Society. Her work did not stop at the local church, she served as the Area President and was a Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society. She traveled yearly with them all over the United States of America.
A TIME TO DIE – With just seven days prior to a day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, her heavenly father said her labor was coming to an end on Earth. On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, she rose early with an agenda for the day. However, God said nothing you have planned today my child will be executed by you. Just 3 years prior, on the same day she said see you later to her partner for life. With family gathered around her bedside, she took her last breath at 6:34pm on December 20, 2024. Rest thy good and faithful servant, a job well done.
A TIME TO REMEMBER - She leaves behind a beautiful legacy filled with warm and precious memories. This legacy is left to her devoted sons, Calvin Turner, Jr., Thomasville, GA, Carlton (Tosha) Turner, Valdosta, GA, and one daughter, Rev. Chavetta (Richard) Carter, Thomasville, GA; two brothers, Rev.
