Leola Lawyer was the daughter of the late Carrie Lee and Fred Robinson, Sr. She was born February 20, 1938. Leola was the third of 9 children. As a young child, Leola joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Douglass High School in 1957. She married a career soldier Lawrence Lawyer, Sr. on March 22, 1958 in Thomasville, GA. They remained married for 37 years, until his death, and their union was blessed with four children. Leola passed away the morning of September 15, 2026.
Leola found great joy in caring for her family. She lovingly cared for her husband, her children, and her home, taking great pride in nurturing her children and supporting their education and growth. Family was at the heart of who she was, and she devoted herself to creating a loving and nurturing home. Although she had other interests, Leola had a special love for fishing. Over the years from Oklahoma to Texas and Georgia, wherever life took her, she found this love. She fished in every state in which she lived, making memories along the way and enjoying the peace and pleasure that fishing brought her.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence Lawyer, Jr; three daughters, Audrey Linder; Marsha Eason (Calvin); and Tracy Patterson (Terry); and grandchildren, Sharika Brown; Termaine Mitchell; Antoine Mitchell (Shakita); Yasmin Godfrey (Jimmy); Joshua Mitchell; Antohni Sneed; and Terry
Patterson, Jr.; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Leola was preceded in death by her eldest grandson, Melvin Leonard Mitchell and son-in-law, Todd Linder.
She is also survived by her sister, Rosemary Dunbar of Thomasville, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Andrews of Thomasville, Georgia, and Beatrice Lawyer of Atlanta, Georgia; and a special friend, Evernease Baker.
Leola also leaves to cherish her memory three aunts: Virginia Wilson of Dayton, Ohio; Emma Hill of Atlanta, Georgia; and Fannie Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina.
She leaves a host of adored nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends who will forever cherish the memories of her life, her love, and her presence.
She was preceded in death by siblings Gladys Mitchell, Fred Robinson, Jr., Doris Jones, Joseph Robinson, Carrie Lee Harrison, Mildred Robinson and Linda Smith.
