Kim Jeffries

June 27, 1942 — January 14, 2022

Kim, as she was known to her family and friends, was born Kim Thi Nguyet Huynh on June 27, 1942 in Saigon, Vietnam to Qui Thi Duong (mother) and Muoi Van Huynh (father). She was received by the Lord as she passed away peacefully in her home on January 14, 2022, in Thomasville, Georgia.
Kim was the second of two daughters in a family which included six brothers. The early years of her life were spent in Vietnam. Kim was inquisitive, fun loving, and a solid high school graduate. A short time after high school, Kim met what would become the love of her life, U.S. Army Sgt. Willie E. Jeffries; at the time stationed in Vietnam. The two would soon fall in love and shortly marry. In 1964, Kim and Willie, along with recently born daughter Jacqueline, moved to the U.S. and settled in Newport News, Virginia where they soon welcomed son James.
Kim was a tirelessly dedicated and loving mother. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her life at an early age and has been a devote Christian since she began raising her two young children. Kim always had a beautiful smile and a loving and affectionate spirit as she welcomed any and all as children of God. Kim's favorite hobby was gardening. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Newport News where she was nearly a daily presence. Kim often spent her mornings in prayer and worship. Each visit to Kim's home was greeted with the Lord's Prayer, and again when departing. Kim also enjoyed hours upon hours of shopping. She never missed out on a sale! After spending 52 years in Newport News Virginia, Kim relocated to Thomasville Georgia to be closer to her daughter Jacqueline. Kim soon made new friends and was a regular at Scott's Senior Center. Her daily attendance was the highlight of her days which she began to enjoy even more than shopping.
Kim is survived by her daughter: Jacqueline Smith, M.D. (Richard), son: James Jeffries, brothers: Keit Huynh (Lieu), Danh Huynh (Ba), Sang Huynh (Lam), grandsons: Corey Smith (Jacqueline), Drew Jeffries (James) Justin Jeffries (James), Sanford Prude (Marie), Marshall Prude (Marie), Michael Prude (Marie), granddaughter: Djuan Prude-Howell (Marie), and several nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. Kim was preceded in death by her loving husband Sgt. Willie E. Jeffries (Ret.), parents Muoi and Qui Huynh, sister Lien Nguyen, brother Dang Huynh, brother Thu Huynh, and stepdaughter Marie Burrows.
The family would like to acknowledge certain individuals, who became part of Kim's extended family, for their love, support, and compassion for Kim in times of need. Her loving and devoted caregivers Mary Coleman, Angie Hill, Mody Robinson, Nell Ross, and best friend Alberta Wyche.
