It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Smith Moore, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on September 23, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on December 20, 1948, in Grady County, Josephine was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and Mary Dean Smith.
Josephine was a beacon of love and strength in her family, known for her unwavering support and nurturing spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Victor Moore, and her devoted husband, James Moore, as well as her father, Robert Lee Smith and siblings, Eula Wilson, Levi Smith, Wilard Smith, and Robert Smith. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers, as she carried their love in her heart throughout her life.
Josephine leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by her mother, Mary Dean Smith; her children, James Moore and Evelyn Cleveland. She was a proud grandmother to Victoria Moore, Brandie Moore, and Brandon Moore, who will always remember her warmth and wisdom. Her siblings, Daisy Ivory of Cairo, GA, OnaBell (Joe) Hunter of Atlanta, GA, Claretha (Leroy) Ross of Thomasville, GA, Joseph Smith of Thomasville, GA, Bobby Smith of Thomasville, GA, and Sarah Smith of Thomasville, GA, along with her sister-in-law, Elenor Smith, will hold her memory close as they navigate life without her.
Josephine's spirit will also be honored by her special nephews, Demareo Smith and Tramaine Mills, Jr., and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who were touched by her kindness and love. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, and her laughter and joy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Josephine's warmth and kindness touched many lives, and her spirit will be cherished by all who knew her.
