Joanna Simone Brinson Dennis, lovingly known as Simone or "Monesie," was a vibrant, outgoing, and loving woman whose warmth, determination, and infectious spirit touched everyone she met.
A proud graduate of Thomasville High School, Class of 1989, Joanna continued her education at Morris Brown College before relocating to California to begin her career in healthcare. After several years on the West Coast, she returned to her hometown of Thomasville, Georgia, where she continued serving others through her work at Southwestern State Hospital. She then was introduced to the love of her life, Calvin Dennis in the year 2000.
Joanna and Calvin were united in marriage in 2004 and made their home in Albany, Georgia. She first worked for the City of Albany before beginning what would become a remarkable career at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. For more than 20 years, Joanna faithfully served the hospital and its patients, ultimately becoming Management of Patient Advocacy. In this role, she led a team of more than 30 employees with compassion, excellence, and unwavering dedication.
Never one to stop learning, Joanna was committed to personal and professional growth. In 2024, she accepted the role of Madame Chair for Albany Technical College's Business in Healthcare Technology Committee. She also achieved a lifelong goal by earning her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern New Hampshire University in 2025. Joanna embraced every opportunity to expand her knowledge, sharpen her skills, and make a meaningful impact in healthcare.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joanna's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to Calvin and a proud football mom to her son, Cameron. She loved baking, cooking, traveling, and creating treasured memories with her mother and immediate family.
Joanna also had a true entrepreneurial spirit. She enthusiastically pursued numerous business ventures throughout her life, always eager to explore new opportunities and turn her passions into reality.
Joanna will be remembered for her radiant smile, beautiful bright eyes, contagious laughter, and the genuine kindness she extended to everyone she encountered. Her legacy of love, perseverance, leadership, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Though she will be deeply missed, Joanna's memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her loving husband, Calvin Dennis; her beloved son, Cameron Dennis; her mother, Joanne Brinson; her sister, Nurshell Brinson; her brother, Paul D. Brinson (Shawna Brinson); her cherished niece, Dejah Brinson; her nephew, Blake Brinson; her sisters-in-law, Jennifer Dennis and Diane Dennis; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul J. Brinson.
