Obituary
Jeremy Jerrod Austin, lovingly known as *Jay Bird*, was born on January 23, 1992, to Talmadge Austin Jr. and Lisa Austin-Brinson. From an early age, Jeremy was known for his athleticism, vibrant spirit, and passion for life.
A gifted athlete, Jeremy played linebacker and defensive tackle for the semi-pro football teams, the East Alabama Predators and the Columbus Truth. He was a proud graduate of Kendrick High School, Class of 2010, after also attending Thomasville High School and Carver High School. Professionally, he worked with the Cooper Steel Plant and later at the Kia Plant in LaGrange, Georgia.
Jeremy's greatest joy came from spending time with his daughters, family, and close friends. He was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia, and Spirit-Filled Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia, where his faith and community played an important role in his life.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Elizabeth H. Jackson and Mattie Austin; his daughter, Janilya Austin; and his aunt, Linda Williams.
Jeremy leaves cherished memories to his Parents: Lisa Austin-Brinson (Edward Brinson Sr.) and Talmadge Austin Jr. (Patricia Austin); his grandfather: Willie Johnson, his daughters, Kaidence Austin and Journiee Austin; his siblings, Chanel Breann Austin, Takeishia (Shawn Hudson), Asia Brinson, Talmadge (Toby) Austin III, Dennoris McCurdy, and Edward Brinson Jr.; his godparents, Sonya Pace-Farley, Sheila Precious Evans, and Phillip Myers; devoted aunt's and uncles, Tammy Harris, Jennifer Mack, Rosa Williams (Charles Williams) and Tony Harris (Kimberly Harris) Oscar Jackson (Joyce Jackson) Shawn Austin, Phillip Austin, Jerry Williams, Tammy Johnson, Shirley Wilson, Yvonne Everett, Geraldine Johnson (Melvin Johnson), Sandy Austin and his best friend, Antonio Carter. He will also be remembered by a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jeremy will forever be remembered for his big heart, his determination, and the love he shared with those around him. His memory will live on in the lives of his children, family, and all who were blessed to know him.
