James Williams, Sr. was born on December 14, 1941, to the late Leroy and Lozena Williams. After the early passing of his mother, James was lovingly raised by the late Mary Francis Hidgon. He attended Thomasville City Schools and became an active member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church at a young age, serving on both the Usher and Deacon Boards.
James was united in marriage to Betty Wilson Williams, and from this union, they had five children Ronnie Wilson, Sandra Wilson, Vickie Smith, James Williams (Lawanda), and Tyrone Williams (Marie). He worked for many years at Sunnyland until the plant's closure, after which he retired from Georgia Pipe following 17 years of dedicated service.
In the early 1990s, James met Mercy and they were married in 1993. During their marriage, he embraced his role as a loving bonus father to her five children: Lakesha Lewis, Latasha Griffin, Folisha Griffin, Antown Griffin, and Antionetta Bellinger.
James enjoyed a life filled with love for his family and a passion for fishing, hunting, and church involvement. Even as his health declined, he remained devoted to his faith and family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
He is survived by his sisters, Irene Hughes and Willie Pearl Mayo; sisters-in-laws, Lena Odom, Eloise Edward, Barbara Daughtry, Christine Wiley (Ernest), and Rodetta Johnson; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Williams and Roy Williams; sisters Thenia Mobley, Alice Ree Jones, and Dollie Mae Lawson; and Stepbrother Mack Flowers.
James Williams' Memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
