Mr. James C. Gabriel, Jr. was born November 21, 1946, in Thomasville, Georgia to the late James Gabriel and Arlene Smart Gabriel. After graduating from Douglas High School, he attended Albany State University. Later, he began his career as a truck driver for many years, as well as pursued other jobs. He returned to further his education at Thomas University until his health declined.
On July 30, 1979, he married Betty Jean Kimmons, who he leaves to cherish many memories. From this union, he welcomed his two daughters Felicia Gabriel and Lakortornette Gabriel.
Mr. James C. Gabriel enjoyed reading and writing anything pertaining to the bible and historical events. He enjoyed spending time with his family, football, fishing, and was known for his great sense of humor and jokes. He was a lover of life and his friends; he was a giver of knowledge and wisdom. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was an honorary uncle, father, and grandfather to many.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty, daughters, Felicia and Lakortornette, stepdaughter, Cynthia Kimmons. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved grandchildren, who were his greatest joys, Equavion Kimmons, Tori Sapp, Jr., Jemari Sapp, Radiant Sapp, Bernard Simmons, III, Jacquez Simmons, and Elijah Kimmons; Great Grandchildren: Caleb Kimmons, Kalonni Kimmons, and Aaliyah Kimmons; His sibling, Virginia Gabriel-Johnson (Howlon), and host of nieces, nephews, honorary grandchildren, family, and friends whom he loved greatly.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, his stepson, Jeffery Kimmons, and siblings, Freddie Gabriel, Arthur Gabriel and Vivian Gabriel.
