James M. Davis, Sr.

April 25, 1954 — April 8, 2020

Pastor James M. Davis, Sr. was born in Philadelphia, PA on
April 25, 1954 to the late, Sarah Dalton (mother) and James
Davis (father). While raised by both his mother and
grandmother (Louise S. Hankerson), he had the opportunity
to live a fulfilled childhood/adolescence, in both Philadelphia
and Augusta, GA. He was the second eldest out of five
children: Richard Dalton of Philadelphia, PA; proceeded in
death by sister Gloria Oriol (Franz), Frank Dalton (Rita) of
Philadelphia, PA; and Carl Dalton (Betty) of Philadelphia, PA.
He was a proud honor graduate of Lucy Laney Highschool in
1972 (Augusta, GA), where he then proceeded into adulthood.


He furthered his education at Paine College for 3 ½ years
(Majoring in Chemistry and Minoring in Biology) prior to
enlisting into the U.S. Army. While in college, he met his
beautiful wife, Audrey H. Davis, who he later married on
June 9, 1979. God blessed them with 3 children: Apryl Davis,
James M. Davis, Jr.(Devri), and Ashley D. Boyd (Anthony);
who have given them 8 exceptionally, talented grandchildren:
Alyjah, James III, Jeanine, Alanah, Aiden, Jasmine, Aric, and
Amaris; Loving Mother and Father In-Law: Ananias Hopkins,
Jr. and Rosetta W. Hopkins; Brother/Sister In-Laws: Cynthia
(Robert proceeded in death) Stringer; Pastor Aaron (Diane)
Hopkins; Pastor Ananias (Jackie) Hopkins, III; Jennifer
Hightower; and Rev. Anthony Hopkins.


After serving 3 years as an honorable veteran, he proceeded
on in a career with the State of Florida for 20 years before
retiring.


Pastor James M. Davis, Sr. was a faithful member of Springhill
M.B. Church, where he also served as, Deacon, Sunday School
Superintendent, Youth Sunday School Teacher, Gospel Choir
Member, and was eventually called into the Ministry as a
Reverend (under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth L. Boyd).
He was ordained (1992) /licensed (1995) as a Pastor. He had
the honor of pastoring St. Andrews M.B. Church, Willow
Grove M.B. Church, and St. Rilla M.B. Church.


Pastor James M. Davis, Sr. will be extremely missed by a host
of nieces/nephews; great nieces/great nephews; cousins, and
friends/family.
