Henry Wheeler

May 8, 1942 — August 11, 2023

Henry W. "Bobby" Wheeler, son of the late Frazier and Esther Wheeler Sr. was born on May 8, 1942 in Thomasville, GA. He was a graduate of Douglass High School, Class of 1959. He joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at a very very young age. Later, when he retired and moved back to Thomasville, he rededicated himself back to the church, which he attended until his health failed him. Bobby was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, where his love for baseball begin. He was an amateur photographer who loved to take candid photos of family and friends. He enjoyed softball, baseball, football and bowling. He was a US Army Veteran and a Police Officer for the Thomasville Police Department. He attended Southwest Georgia Technical College where he studied Drafting and Design. He also retired from Proctor and Gamble of Albany, GA after 20 years of employment and later retired again from Biltmore Construction of Clearwater, FL after another 20 years of employment as their Safety Coordinator. A die hard Atlanta Braves Fan, Atlanta Falcons Fan and Florida State Seminole Fan.


To cherish his memories, he leaves his daughter, Deirdre Wheeler, Tallahassee, FL, his son, Melvin (Amanda) Wheeler, Tifton, GA and step-son, Roddy (Kim) Nixon, Jr., Bonaire, GA; grandsons, Dominique (Alfreeka) Wheeler, Sr., Clarksville, TN, Brandon (Tory) Ross, Scott Air Force Base and Roddy Nixon, III, Bonaire, GA; granddaughter, Miley Wheeler, Tifton, GA; great-granddaughters, De'Nayla Wheeler and Destiny Wheeler and great-grandson, Dominique Wheeler, Jr. Also, a host of extended grandchildren and great grandchildren; special God-Daughter, Felecia Cochran, who was always there and a big part of the family. He also leaves to cherish his memory, "The Best Sister Ever" Mrs. Juanita Chester, Thomasville, GA and Brothers, Edward Wheeler and Willie James (Eva) Wheeler, Atlanta, GA and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and devoted friends.


A Special thanks to Henry's nephew, Stanley Clark, nieces, Cheryl Green and Odessa Williams. Selena Brown and Joyce Walton for always standing in the gap when needed.


He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frazier and Willie C. and three sisters, Jessie Bell, Mary Frances and Gwendolyn.
