Helen Rose Fisher Brown was born on November 9, 1947 into the union of the late James C. Fisher and the late Marie Hunter Fisher. She departed this life on January 30, 2022 at Archbold Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
At an early age, Helen joined the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, she joined the Saint Thomas African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.
She was married to the love of her life, the late John J. Brown, for over 40 years, who preceded her in death in 2014. During this union, they were blessed with a son, Joseph N. Brown, who affectionately referred to her as "Rose".
Helen graduated from Magnolia High School. With the desire to further her education, in 1971, she graduated from Thomas Technical Institution. Afterwards, obtaining her licenses as a practical nurse. She began her career of service by working as a nurse in Labor & Delivery and then transitioned to the Midwifery Center at Archbold which is now known as the Shaw Center. Even when her health began to decline, she remained faithful and steadfast in her commitment to serving others, continuing to work at the Shaw Center for Women's Health until her death. Helen also enjoyed sewing and completing crossword puzzles in her spare time. She had a genuine love for people. You may have entered her presence as a stranger, but your departure would be one as friends.
Helen leaves to cherish her memories, son, Joseph N. (Tameka) Brown, of Thomasville, GA; brother, Ronnie (Cynthia) Fisher, of Thomasville, GA ;brother-in-law, Eddie McCoy of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Anna Brooks, Dakaja Samuel, Devin Samuel, Kemiah Wyche, and Kensley Crump; god sisters, Deloris Curry, of Thomasville, GA and Laquana Smith, of Camilla, GA; god children, Yvette Hill Larkin, of Atlanta, GA, and Yvonne Hill McKinnie, of Boynton Beach, FL; special niece, Sandra Stafford, of Thomasville, GA, and the entire Shaw Center Family. She also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, James Fisher and Marie Fisher; husband, John J. Brown; and siblings, Daisy F. Stanley, Ona F. Minor, John Fisher, Calvin Fisher, Major Fisher, Lenora F. McCoy, Elbert Fisher, Roscoe Fisher, Willie J. Fisher, Tommy Lee Fisher, Elizabeth Fisher, Jeanette F. Taylor, and Ernest Fisher.
