On April 3, 1932 in Worth County, Georgia, Hattie Mae Mitchell was born to the late Carrie B. Oliver and the late Leroy Ford. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her sister, Ida L. Oliver. and her son, Barry Jon Mitchell Sr.

Hattie Mae Mitchell graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta. She started her career as a Registered Nurse in Thomasville, GA then relocated to New York. She served as a RN for 50 + years before she retired. 

Hattie leaves to celebrate her legacy, her Daughter, Carrie Mitchell Smith; Son, Edward Karl Mitchell, Thomasville, GA; sister, Bessie Mitchell, Thomasville, GA; sisters-in-law, Lucille (Victor) Greene, VA; Mable Davis, Thomasville, GA; Grandchildren: Michael O. Keitt, Jr.(Dre'ya),SC; Barry J, Mitchell Jr. (Antionea) Thomasville, GA; Elisabeth B. Mitchell, Atlanta, GA, Pamela Mitchell (Charles) Allen, NC, Eric X Mitchell, NC; Six Great grandchildren and three Great-great grandchildren. 

She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
