To truly know Greg and be a part of his inner circle was a rare
experience. He shared his best self with those he loved. Greg's
physical stature could sometimes be intimidating, but underneath it
all there was a heart of gold. He often demonstrated that kind heart
with quiet acts that enriched the lives of his nieces and nephews with
whom he shared a special bond. When he let his guard down you
could see that 100 watt smile and hear that joyous laughter. He had
a fondness for music and was light on his feet on the dance floor. It's
where he went by the name of "G-Money". To have these moments
with him was quite special and the generosity he bestowed along the
way will forever be engraved in our hearts
.
Gregory Lamar Jones was born June 9, 1970 in Thomasville, GA.
He was the youngest son of Edna Thompson Jones and the Late
Jerome Roland Jones, Sr. Greg became a member of 2nd Presbyterian
Church at and early age and later served there as an Elder. Greg was
a 1989 graduate of Thomasville High School. Soon after graduating
high school, he went on to serve honorably in the United States Army
from 1989-1993. He was a long time dedicated employee of Flowers
Bakery. His dedication was exemplified by the many days he showed
up early even though his body was wracking with pain. He lived by
the creed: " when the going gets tough… the tough keep going."
His favorite pastime was fishing. It was as close as he could get to
peace on this side of heaven. He would go fishing with anyone,
anytime, anywhere the opportunity presented itself. As life continued,
he began to enjoy the precious moments with his children and
grandkids.
