Gloria Riles

Gloria Louise Adams Riles was born an only child to Madora Mathis Adams and Otis Adams on October 31, 1925 in Cairo, Georgia. She attended the Public School System of Cairo, Georgia and went on to become a skilled domestic worker and cook. She was a loving and supportive mother not only to her children, but also to their many friends who regarded her as a second mother.

In her early years, she was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She later joined Disciples of Jesus Christ Ministries and served as a faithful member and esteemed as Mother of the Church until her health prevented her from active participation. She then moved to Fayetteville, Georgia where she received much care and support from her daughter. In the last month of her life, she was relocated to Savannah, Georgia to be lovingly cared for by her granddaughter until she was called home to the Lord.

Preceding her in death: Obie Williams Barber (husband), Sylvester Riles (husband), Tyrone Tise (son), Vaughn Riles (son) Tori Riles (grandson).

Gloria will forever live on in the lives and hearts of her children: From the union of Obie Williams Barber: Arthur Barber (Jewel); Elmont NY, and Gloria Jackson; Ft. Lauderdale FL. From the union of Sylvester Riles: Geneva Satterwhite (Anthony); Fayetteville GA, Jacqueline Virgil (Alonzo); Thomasville GA, James Riles (Chequeta); Savannah GA, Glenda Riles; Jonesboro GA, Ella Jean Harris; Havanna Fl, and daughter-in-laws: Anna Tise and Barbara Riles. She also shared her love with 21 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins. She had several godsons and goddaughters whom she cherished. Gloria will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but will never be forgotten.
