Flossie Mickens

Flossie "Pearl" Mickens was born on August 25, 1931 to Joe Gilbert, Jr. and Affie Jackson Gilbert. She was the second oldest of nine children. She met her husband, Elijah Mickens, at the age of 21. They were married in Camilla, GA. They moved and started several businesses in Camden, NJ. They lived in Camden, NJ for over thirty years, before returning to Camilla, GA to retire.

Flossie leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Sue (John) Jeter, Pensuaken, NJ, Rickey (Betty) Mickens, Thomasville, GA, David (Lashuan) Mickens, Thomasville, GA, John Mickens, Albany, GA, Willie Cole, Miami, FL, Margie Chase, Atlanta, GA, Antoinette Carstarphen, Camden, NJ; one living sister, Maggie Whitus; grandchildren, Willie Powell, Lisa Edwards, Beverly Cole, Harvey Cole, Willie Cole, Jr., Mary Murray, Gloria Floyd, Latosha Alexander, Angel Vicks, Ronald Mickens, Germaine Mickens, Shelton Mickens, Shantel Mickens, Yaneria Hicks, Zandesha Moment, Alexis Mickens, Davida Mickens, David Mickens, Jr., Davionna Patterson, Jarmeka Patterson, Davion Patterson, Dashawn Patterson, Anastasia Wilkins, and Daijanaye Patterson, 41 great grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert; her husband, Elijah Mickens; daughters, Mattie Cole and Janette Mickens; sons, Elijah "Lil Sonny" Mickens, Henry Mickens and Archie Mickens; grandson, Marvin Mickens; siblings, Nathaniel Mitchel, Eddie Roy Gilbert, Perry Lee Gilbert, Joe Gilbert, Jr., Annie Ruth Isom, Irene Gilbert, Annie Will Watkins, and Essie Mae Gilbert.
