Evelyna Jenkins was born February 17, 1926, in Highlands County, Florida to the parents of Jimmie “Titum” Ivey and Grace Ivey. She went home to be with her Lord on January 11, 2026, at the Presbyterian nursing home. She was married to Frank Jenkins until his untimely death. She didn't obtain any diplomas or degrees, but she was full of wisdom with an impeccable work ethic. She successfully helped raise and impacted several generations while serving as a maid (the help) in the Perry, Florida area for over 60 years. Oftentimes, while cooking and feeding others, she was not allowed to eat and would go hungry all day long while she worked her fingers to the bone.
Her famous words were--"GOD IS A GOOD". Her niece, Sandra, would read her the Word of God, and another dear friend would drive her to Sunday School. She was a close friend to Ms Helen, who lived across the street, and encouraged her daughter, Ellen, after her passing, to provide Ms. Jenkins with a chicken pot pie every Sunday. Ms. Evelyna had many others in the community who did for her. Mrs Marilyn took her to the doctor, she and her husband brought her groceries every month, and she was looking forward to their visits to the donut shop. Willie Mae, Al, and Teresa have been in her life for a long time, as Al kept her yard in immaculate shape. They all helped in looking out for her well-being. Her favorite Psalms were 121. Her niece, Sandra, and nephew, Paul, shared the gospel with her, and she trusted Jesus as her Savior! She longed to see Jesus. After her brother, Cleo “Big Jim”, passed, her niece, Sandra, would make frequent trips to handle her affairs and care for her. On those visits, she would often request Popeyes chicken with those seasoned fries. Carolyn, Mom, Lena, Theo, and Jet did it also. Lewis was gracious enough to repair her bathroom floor at one point when her "watch cats" would allow him in the house. She cares a lot for her many cats, which she fed every day. She loved her nephews and nieces, but she favored Timothy the most. She especially cherished her friendship and love for her sister in law which she referred to as her "sister" Arplee Ivey.
She leaves to mourn her devoted sister-in-law, Arplee Ivey (Theo). She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her four brothers: Johnny, Jim L, Theo, and Cleo.
She will be greatly missed.
