Emmanuel Lorenzo Simon, born in Thomasville, Georgia on May 22, 1960, was called home to heaven on May 24, 2021.
In his 61 years of life, Emmanuel accomplished many impressive things but was most proud of his family who affectionately called him "Candy Man!" He was the third eldest of ten children and father to 6 children. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jenkins and Gladys Simon, sister, Patricia Ann Simon, and Son, Michael Simon. Emmanuel is survived by his siblings, Derrick (Jamie) of St. Louis MI, Eric (Vickie) of Clarksville, TN, Marion (Angela) of Thomasville, GA, Joanne, Jenkins (Patricia) of Boston, GA, Malcolm (Diedra) of Aubu Dhabi, Samuel (Annie) of Killeen, TX, and Barbara of Valdosta, GA. His children, Rika, Emmanuel, Pam, Justice and Emmanuel III and a special friend, Ms. Lougean Guyton Lee of Atlanta, GA.
Emmanuel graduated from Thomasville High School where he was a star player on the basketball and football teams. He went on to earn several college degrees at Thomas College and Valdosta State University. Later, Emmanuel received his law degree from St. Thomas School of Law in Miami, Florida.
Emmanuel had a passion for justice which drove him to become a successful criminal defense lawyer. He had a wealth of knowledge and was able to share that knowledge by becoming a published author giving readers insight into "The New Jim Crow" and the legal world.
When not in the courtroom, Emmanuel could be found fishing, woodworking, spending time with family and or teaching Tae Kwon Do. Emmanuel was a martial arts instructor for over 20 years in Moultrie, Georgia, while married to Florence Simon. He enjoyed sharing his passion for martial arts with his son. Although he accomplished many great things in his life, his greatest accomplishment was building a solid foundation for his children and grandchildren to continue to build upon for generations to come.
