Elvie Jones was born on October 20, 1950, the first-born of the late Elvie and Idella Jones.
Elvie Jones was called home to Rest by our Heavenly Father early Friday morning, August 2, 2024, at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
He confessed his belief in Christ early on and joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Thomasville, Georgia.
He graduated from Douglass High School in Thomasville, Georgia. During his high school years, he enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball. He was famous for shooting his "3" from afar. He would help teach the younger children in his neighborhood basketball and football, especially at the YMCA on Clay Street. Everyone loved themselves some "V." They called him "V" for short.
After graduation, he served his country with unrelenting service for 7 years in the United States Army (1969–1976).
Elvie was a quiet, caring man who loved his family and God. He always read the Bible and spoke of it to anyone he talked to. He loved the Lord. He carried himself as a gentleman. He was employed with the City School System for numerous years.
