Obituary

Edward Charles Gordon Sr., age 71, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away on March 12, 2026. He was born on February 21, 1955, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Willie Mae Sanders and Willie J. Gordon.

Edward accepted Christ at an early age and carried his faith with him throughout his life. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent over 20 years as a supervisor at Kinro Manufacturing Company and more than 10 years as a supervisor with Johnson Institutional Services.

He was a proud graduate of Thomasville High School, Class of 1973, and furthered his education by attending Virginia Union University and Albany State University.

In his earlier years, Edward enjoyed coaching YMCA football, watching sports, and most of all, bragging about his family, whom he loved dearly. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Gordon, and to this union four beautiful children were born. They shared over 19 wonderful years together.

Edward leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Edward Charles Gordon Jr. of Thomasville, GA; Jada Gordon of Tallahassee, FL; Lutrena Blake (Terrence) of Thomasville, GA; and Veties Woody (Brian) of Thomasville, GA.

He is also survived by his siblings: Betty Baker of Ocala, FL; Cynthia Harper of Thomasville, GA; Patricia Whitted (Thomas) of Thomasville, GA; Vena Sanders of Thomasville, GA; and Alfred Hadley of Moultrie, GA. His sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Braynt of Thomasville, GA, Pearl Johnson of Thomasville, GA, Mamie Henderson (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL, and Thomas Mitchell of Thomasville, GA.

His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Arkia Gordon, A’Mod Turner, Amari Evans, Brian Woody Jr., Terrence Blake Jr., and Lauryn Grace Blake.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Luther Gordon.

Edward will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for family, and the joy he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
