Obituary

Dovie Mae Jones was born in Luling, Texas on June 23, 1943 to the late Connie and Margie Clack-Johnson of San Antonio, Texas. In 1962, she met and married Dr. Leon Jones of Thomasville, Georgia. From this union was born three children; two daughters, Deborah (Larry) Roberson of Los Angeles California, Tanya Jones (Willie) of Thomasville, Georgia, and a son, Rodney Jones (Kathy) of Denver, Colorado. Although this union ended after 18 years of marriage, Dr. Jones and Dovie maintained a friendly Christian relationship for 64 years.

Dovie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She faithfully worshipped and served God at many Churches during her worldwide travels. Later in her Christian journey, she joined and was a longtime member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Alton Shields in Denver, Colorado.

Dovie and her children traveled extensively with her husband to the countries of Turkey, the Philippians, Germany, California twice, and finally Denver, Colorado.

At 3:07 p.m. on May 7, 2026, Dovie heard the voice of Jesus saying; “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”.

Dovie was preceded in death by her Parents, Connie Clack and Margie Clack-Johnson, a brother, two grandchildren, Dimples Miller, Dayna Marshall and one great-granddaughter Demi Scott.

Dovie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Deborah Roberson, Tanya Jones; a son, Rodney Jones; two sisters, Virginia Roberts of Los Angeles, California, Margie Irby (Robert Sr.) of Baltimore, Maryland; six grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Valencia Spight, Donna Pearson, Monique Jones, Isaac Andrews, Isaiah Andrews; seven great-grandchildren, Aleria Miller, Jamya Manning, Gloria Mariah Pearson, Joseph Pearson, Caden Moore, Cali Moore, Aaliyah Moore; nieces, Constance Taylor, Baltimore, Maryland; nephews, Robert Irby, Jr., Richmond, Virginia, Michael Roberts of San Antonia, Texas, Larry Roberts, Gate City, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
