Dorothy Jean Hunter Hooker, affectionately known as "Sister" by family
and friends, was born in Grady County on October 20, 1941, to the
late Johnnie Pearl Williams Hunter and Taylor Hunter. She departed
this life on July 27, 2020, at Archbold Medical Center, Thomasville, GA.
She attended North Boston High School and LaCharm Beauty School
for Cosmetology. She worked at Hospitality Care Center and
Southwestern State Hospital from which she retired in 2003.
At a young age, Dorothy joined Richland Missionary Baptist Church
where she faithfully served as a member for over 65 years. She
thoroughly enjoyed sharing and reading the word of God, performing
millinery, and sewing. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star
for many years. Her life was full and her heart was always happy when
she spent time with members of her family, friends, but especially when
she was around her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, five brothers: Robert
(Geraldine), Herbert (Arnette), Harold (Genoa), Zachrous, Timothy and
two sisters: Geraldine, and Michelle. Three sister-in-laws: Perdethia
Hunter, Bertha Hunter, and Katherine Hunter. Six-children: Franklin
(Jennifer) Hooker, Carol Greene, Beverly (Michael) Robinson, Landonn
(Buggs), Robbie (Karen) Hooker, and Darius Hooker. Ten grandchildren
and one great-grandchild and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Pearl and Taylor Hunter,
three brothers: F.C. Rudolph, Richard "Bud", David "Gue", and one sister:
Carolyn Toller.
