Derrick Lamar Spear was born on September 14, 1967 to the late Horace Spears, Sr. and Lillie Bell Sanders.
He departed this life on December 20, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
He served 9 years in the United States Army. He was a Lieutenant at Autry State Prison for 27 years in Pelham, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Odessa Walden Spear of Meigs, Georgia; one son, Derrick Lamar Spear, Jr. of Albany, Georgia; bonus son, Brandon Walden of Dallas, Texas; bonus daughter, Anna (Dexter) Jones of Thomasville, GA; bonus grandchildren, Jade and Noah Jones of Thomasville, GA, Caleb Walden of Dallas, Texas; a loving mother, Lillie Bell Spear of Meigs, Georgia; two sisters, Barbara (Antonio) Norwood of McDonough, Georgia Dianna Spear of Quitman, Georgia; two brothers, William (Sandra) Spear of Meigs, Georgia, Horace (Patsy) Spear of Thomasville, Georgia; two aunts, Mary Sanders of Meigs, Georgia; Tangerine Jackson of Lawrenceville, Georgia; two sisters in law, Linda Samuel of Thomasville, Georgia, Annie Green of Albany, Georgia; four brothers in law, Ralph (Fikirte) Walden of Gauiter, Mississippi, Rufus (Glenda) Walden of Jonesboro, Georgia, Vince Wynn of Thomasville, Georgia, Terry (Shatiza) Wynn of Ochlocknee, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Viola Harris, Katie Mar Wright; aunts, Emma Jean Wright. Berry Sander and uncle, Johnny Spear.
