Deacon William Truman Hollis

A Time to Be Born

Deacon William Truman Hollis was born on September 16, 1947, to Fred Hollis Sr. and Thelma Cobb Hollis, who proceeded him in death. He was the fourth of four children. His sister Trudell Bordon, and brothers James Hollis and Fred Hollis, Jr. all preceded him in death.

A Time to Experience Life

At an early age he gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Richland M. B. Church. He was an ordained Deacon and was later elected Chairman of the Deacon Board at Richland, where he served faithfully for over forty years. William was a graduate of Magnolia High School Class of 1965, where he served as Drum Major for the Marching Buccaneers. William served in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of SP5. He was honorably discharged on June 16, 1971. He served in many roles of the Masonic family Joppa Lodge #43 F.&A.M. -P.H.A., 33rd Degree, and Shriners.

A Time for Cherished Memories

William had a zest for life, but recognized his peace would only come from eternal healing. He peacefully and swiftly transitioned from this earth to rest in God's bosom on December 10, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Jeanette Jackson Hollis. His children, son, William Eric (Nivea) Hollis, Boston, GA; daughters, Yolanda Wynette Hollis, Albany, GA, and Chandra (Calvin Jones) Williams, Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren; Eric R. Hollis, and Amber (Alex) Brown, Atlanta, GA,  Brandon Hollis, Thomasville, GA; Le'Kyah Delapierre and Jaedah Jones, Delray Beach, FL; five great-grandchildren; Ivory, Brooklynn (preceded him in death), Tyler, Skylar, Santana; brothers; Damon (Lillie Mae) Graham, Sr, Thomasville, GA, Cleveland (Ocie) Graham Sr., Valdosta, GA, Herman (Carola) Graham, Sindelfingen, Germany; sister: Rosemary Graham, Raleigh, NC; special nieces; Sheryl McGee, McDonough, GA; Kimberly Gilbert and Lisa Hadley Thomasville, GA.
