Ms. Connie Rose Leaphart Simmons was born on November 13, 1945, in Boston, Georgia to the late Johnny Talmadge Leaphart and the late Henrietta Graham Leaphart. Connie graduated from Magnolia High School with honors in the year of 1963 and continued her education with some college level courses. She worked most of life in textile manufacturing. She retired at Archbold Homecare Services as a Customer Service Representative. Even after she retired, she continued to work 20 hours per week with the Aging and Disability Program through SOWEGA.
Connie enjoyed going to church and working for God, talking on the phone with friends, playing with her dog Jazzy, and participating in her daughter's stray animal ministry. She enjoyed cooking, eating at restaurants, sprucing up her house, fishing, growing flowers that she kept on her front porch, and crossword puzzles
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her children, Christopher Stephon Thompson –Thomasville, GA and Deidra Di-Anne Thompson Williams – Thomasville, GA; her siblings Dorothy Mae Walden –Thomasville, GA and Johhny Arthur Leaphart – Thomasville, GA; her grandchildren, Kentavius D'Adrian Williams (Patricia) - Tallahassee, FL and Kristina Nicole Thompson-Wallace (Jay) - Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren, Demetrius Hightower, Jr.– Thomasville GA, D'Majai Hightower, DaeShaun Hightower, Quran Worthy, Shorrod Wallace, and Jasmine Wallace all of Atlanta GA; nieces, Lyndia Walden-Davis (Fred) - Sandy Springs, GA, Cynthia Calhoun (Eric) - Henry County, GA, Deborah Johnson Tallahassee, FL, Patricia Walden (Robert) - Thomasville GA, and Crystal Rose Walden-Barnes – Thomasville GA, Kimberly Peeks – Simmons -Tallahassee FL, Carlisa Booker (Paul) - Pavo, GA and nephew, Tony Peeks – Gainesville, FL. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of cousins, friends and Sisters and Brothers in Christ of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Johnny Talmadge Leaphart and Henrietta Graham Mays; her sister and brother-in-law Mittie Jean Leaphart – French (Arnold French); brother-in-law Moses Walden; niece – Cherlyn Lynette Walden-Cole.
