Charlie Ben Johnson

Charlie Ben Johnson was born on May 19, 1948 to Edward James Johnson and Pinky Forest Hadley. He was baptized at an early age and became a member of Bethlehem AME Church in Cairo, GA. He would later join Springhill MB Church in Thomasville, GA, as well as New Mount Zion MBC, where he would serve as a trustee.

He graduated from Magnolia High School in the class of 1967 and went on to attended Walton Technical School in Thomasville GA.

In 1970, he married Laquetta Watkins and into this union two children were born, Joslynn and Shonn.

In 1997, he married Gloria Lewis whom he remained with until his death. The love they share for one another is like no other.

He was employed as a butcher at IGA, Harvey's grocery store, Publix, A&P grocery store and Winn Dixie from which retired in 2011.

In his spare time, he loved to fish and travel the world with his wife and sons. He also enjoyed an occasional cigar while sitting on his porch and playing games on his phone.

On November 24th, in the early hours of the morning, our Father called Charlie home. He leaves to mourn his passing seven children: Joslynn Johnson-Reynolds, Thomasville, GA, Shonn Johnson, Thomasville, GA, Brian "Fufu" Lovejoy (Alethea) St. Louis, MO, LaDwan Wilson (Kenya), Bound Brook, NJ, Sheddrick Wilson (Nancy) Ossining, NY, Anthony Williams (Nita) Thomasville, GA and Robert Williams, Jr. Thomasville, GA. He leaves thirteen grandchildren: Kordae', James, Donte, Keyanna, Kameron, Jordyn, Devin, Nigel, Nadia, Sophia, Brian, Jr, Marcellus and Kayla. He loved his special niece, Myra Thomas and nephews, Gregory Flanders and Jerome Flanders and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by mother and father, Pinky and Edward James Johnson, two brothers, Elmer Johnson and James Edward Johnson, Jr., two sisters, Martha Thomas and Helen Flanders.

He will be missed by many cousins, friends and classmates.
